What the work involves

Painting, explained

Most paint jobs fail because of what happened before the first coat went on, not because of the paint. On older Westchester and Bronx housing stock — plaster walls, wood clapboard, aluminum and vinyl siding, painted brick — surface preparation is the whole job. We scrape, sand, wash, patch, caulk and prime before anything gets a finish coat.

Interior work covers walls, ceilings, trim, doors, closets, stairwells, basements and hallways in occupied homes and apartments. Exterior work covers siding, soffits, fascia, porches, railings, garage doors, shutters and trim, with the surface prep and priming matched to the substrate.

What's included

  • Full furniture protection, floor covering and daily clean-up
  • Scraping, sanding and washing of failing or chalking surfaces
  • Patching nail pops, cracks, water stains and small plaster damage
  • Caulking gaps at trim, corners, windows and siding joints
  • Spot or full priming, including stain-blocking primer where needed
  • Two finish coats in a sheen chosen for the room or exposure
  • Cut-in trim, ceiling lines and edges done by hand, not taped and rushed
  • Final walkthrough with a punch list before payment

How the job runs

  1. 1

    Walkthrough & color plan

We measure each room or elevation, note problem areas (moisture, peeling, prior repairs), and talk through sheens and colors. You get a written scope listing exactly which surfaces are included.

  2. 2

    Protection & prep day

Furniture is moved and covered, floors are papered or dropped, hardware and fixtures come off. Exterior jobs get a wash and full scrape before anything else.

  3. 3

    Repairs & priming

Patching, skim coats, caulking and priming happen next. Bare wood, patched drywall and stained areas always get primed so the finish coat looks uniform.

  4. 4

    Finish coats

Two coats applied by brush, roller or sprayer depending on the surface, with drying time respected between coats rather than rushed.

  5. 5

    Clean-up & punch list

Hardware goes back on, the site is cleaned, and we walk the job with you in daylight to mark anything that needs another pass.

What to expect as a homeowner

  • A typical three-bedroom interior repaint runs 3–6 working days depending on trim and ceiling work.
  • Exterior repaints are weather-dependent; we hold off on rain days and on surfaces that have not fully dried.
  • You can usually stay in the home — we work room by room and keep bedrooms and bathrooms usable.
  • Paint is a line item on your estimate, so you know exactly what product and how many gallons are going on your walls.
